Creative dancer in Sint Marteen
Shantel Duruo is a passionate and expressive dancer whose journey began at just six years old.
Inspired by her mother, who was also a dancer, Shantel trained in several dance styles including
ballet, jazz, contemporary, and hip hop from an early age.
At the age of 13, she stepped away from dancing after struggling with self-doubt and getting into
her own head. However, after spending nearly 10 years abroad and exploring different paths,
Shantel rediscovered dance around 2022 at the age of 23 and realized it was her true passion,
her first love.
During her time abroad, dance became a positive outlet and emotional escape, helping her
reconnect with herself creatively and personally. Since returning to the island, she has continued
taking dance classes and training opportunities to improve her skills, grow artistically, and
deepen her understanding of movement and performance.
Today, Shantel is committed to pursuing dance professionally and sharing her passion with
others through energetic, emotional, and meaningful performances.
